Super Sinbad RC Sailplane Build

Super Sinbad RC Glider

Building the Super Sinbad RC Sailplane Short-Kit

The Short-Kit! The answer to the ‘how do I get a quality balsa kit these days?’ for many. This RC Sailplane kit was ordered from eBay from one of 100’s of Laser Cut kit suppliers and looks to be a fun build! This will be a 3-channel RC Aircraft when complete and should have all the characteristics of an Old School RC Glider! Because it is a Short Kit, all general purpose sticks and sheets will have to be purchased at a local hobby shop. Hardware to will have to be acquired. It is important to frequent your local shops whenever possible and this project will be no exception.

The build will be documented as we go as well the initial flights. A bill of materials will be generated and updated as the build progresses and listed here when complete. All info will be freely downloadable once posted up. Will also update our Common Build Tools Page if we determine we had to purchase something new.

UPDATE: UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO A WATER ACCIDENT, WE LOST SEVERAL BUILDS ON THE WORKBENCH, INCLUDING THIS SUPER SINBAD! This Project is scrapped ๐Ÿ™

Building the Stabilizer

building the stabilizer for this RC Sailplane is up first. Here we go!

Super Sinbad RC Sailplane Stabilizer. An old school RC Aircraft and RC Glider

Here is the framed up Stabilizer and Elevator for this RC Sailplane. What remains is trimming off excess stick, rough shaping of airfoil, final sanding and hinge installation. All of which will occur when rough occurs for the entire model. This overall length here is almost 31″, which is longer than the Indoor Free Flight models we enjoy building so much! This thing is going to be a RC Sailplane Beast!

The build goal for this RC Aircraft / Old School RC Glider is approximately 3 months. Consequently, this post should get updated frequently. One thing we have learned on this build….We must find a much bigger space / workspace for this one. This is currently underway!
