Drones have come along way in the Flying Hobby Space with huge jumps in technology and flying performance. Their stability in flight and ability to hold position make them great First RC Flyers, encouraging the new flyer how to properly fly and navigate, without the fear of loosing control. It is those features that at first, kept us from advancing our interest in these, as we would prefer the challenges that come with a Collective Pitch RC Helicopter! However, this opinion has changed with the desire to capture aerial video and images of the kites and RC Aircraft we enjoying flying. Dipping our toe into this arena with the Mavic Mini DJI.

The Drone:

We selected this Mavic Mini DJI based on recommendations from other flyers. It features a 2.7k Camera on a 3-Axis Gimble and offers approximately 30 minutes of flight time on a single battery charge. We did get the opportunity to fly one before purchasing it and found its control very intuitive and easy to use. There is a wealth of info and tutorials on this model, and many more, on the DJI site. This Remote Control Drone will work great for us for quite some time.

Aerial Photography:

There is no doubt, an Aerial Photography Drone is appealing to our Flying Hobbies Experience! Over and over again, the question of ‘what does it look like from above’ comes up. Whether it is wondering what our Giant Octopus Kite looks like from above or behind it, or maybe what our favorite RC Helicopter looks like in flight from just behind and above the pilot! Of course, just Flying the Drone DJI Mavic Mini over beautiful landscapes and capturing gorgeous scenic views is fun in and of itself! This adventure is just beginning!

A Few Videos:

Getting comfortable with the Mavic Mini DJI down at the beach! Here, a simple video before the sunrise of the beach. Wind was very calm and you will see the moon approximately 180 degrees into the rotation. Sunrise was about 15 minutes away, but there was enough of the dawn break for some interesting lighting!
