The Best Beach Kites for an Awesome Display

never forgot the sand art

By now, it should be fairly obvious that kite flying is a big part of what we do here at If It Can Fly. As we fly at our favorite beach, South Padre Island, we have begun to get a reputation of flying BIG Kites and a vast array of different kites as well. We are asked often, ‘what are the best beach kites to fly?’ and ‘where can we get them?’. It never fails, we’ll also be asked if any of the kites are for sale, and the answer is always NO, this is just something we do for fun! Naturally, we then point them to the local kite shop in hopes they will join in the fun!

There is just a few rules when deciding what the best beach kites are and in fact, can be summed up in one sentence. Go For Color and Go Big!

Going for Color!

Take a look through this Gallery of pictures and you will notice a vast array of color. From up close to far down the beach, these colors are visible in the wind! Long, gorgeous, multi-color tails and different shapes and sizes of kites all contribute to the beach kites scene.

Going Big!

Yes, everything is bigger in Texas, this is fact. However, qualifying in the best beach kites category isn’t a Texas thing, its a viewable all the way down the beach thing. The wonderful part of flying kites at the beach is you usually have a lot of wind coming off the ocean, which allows for bigger kites to grab air and go up! Seeing a kite display from down the beach line is nothing less than magical.

OK, in all honesty, these are just suggestions for the best beach kites! The only bad beach kite is NO beach kite! SO, Go Fly a Kite and remember #getoutandflysomething.
