The Remote Control Drone!
This flyer has grown in popularity over the last years because of the amount of technology they can accommodate and carry. With this Remote Control Drone technology, these flyers have branched out of a typical Fun Fly Hobby and into industry. Getting started with drones is simply a decision of the purpose. Initially, the typical setup which was described as a drone, was really a quad propeller flyer. However, camera and gps technology quickly advanced and the majority of quad flyers began to incorporate them, especially the camera. The term ‘drone’, then began to stick and is the typical name of this flyer type now. Aerial Drone Photography is something that intrigues this author because it gives the opportunity to both fly drones and capture photography and video of all our other flyers, including Kites, RC Aircraft and even Indoor Free Flight!
With the rapid increase in interest of the remote control drone in the flying space, the FAA moved quickly to setup standards, rules and regulations for the operation of them. Refer here for the press release. In a nutshell, there are age restrictions, location restrictions, altitude restrictions and use guidelines. All put in place to keep the airspace safe. The Racing Drone: these remote control drones are designed and built specifically for racing. Reflexes are a must when flying these!

Autonomous Drone: these remote control drones are designed to be fully autonomous, flying pre-configured flights via ground station communication or fly like a traditional RC Drone. Our first build of this type is documented here, follow along.
