Best Flying Kites

Huge Flying Kites

Some of the best!

Lets admit upfront, the list of the best flying kites would really take novels, and cannot possibly be captured in one post. This post is really just wrapping up our fun kiting season and a follow-up on our last SPI post. The huge flying kites made an appearance again, along with one of our favorites and this time around, we discovered two new kites we are putting in the favorite bucket!

The New Kites!

For this trip, one of the new kites we pulled from our bag of tricks is this 106″ x 54″ Single Line Delta. We flew it with and without add-on tails, and in both configurations, it flew great. Very stable! Here are a few pictures!

The second new kite we pushed into the air with the greatest of ease, is this beautiful 93″ x 40″ Delta Box Conyne. Hands down, this kite jumps to our Top 3 List! It is extremely easy to launch, very stable in the air, and it does well with line laundry attached. For next years SPI trip, there will be at least 3 more of these in the bag and we’ll attempt a 4 kite tandem. So stable, it must be easy with this one!

The Big Kite Laundry!

It wouldn’t be a SPI Kite Trip if there wasn’t a plan to throw up some new line laundry. This time, we went big! Check out this 11′ squid, being chased by our favorite huge flying kite! This combination really drew the kids on the beach to get a closer look!

Looking forward to our next trip!

South Padre Island is a go-to and we cannot see a time where it is not our favorite destination to go kite flying. However, we are starting to get the itch to visit the scenic surrounding of Colorado with the main purpose of flying kites and specifically, our huge flying kites! What a backdrop!

Until then….#getoutandflysomething
